Stuart Jay Warren, 87, of Ottawa

Stuart Jay Warren, 87, of Ottawa, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at his home on the farm in Serena Township.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa, with the Rev. Cherie Quillman, Pastor of Serena United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at West Serena Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday, at the funeral home.

Stuart was born on March 3, 1936, in Ottawa to Russell & Dorothy (Shuler) Warren. He graduated from Serena Grade & High School. He was a member of the 1952-53 Serena High School Cinderella basketball team, winning the Little 10 Tournament. He married Ila Broadus on November 18, 1956, at the Harding United Methodist Church. He farmed and raised Black Angus cattle with his father and was later joined by his sons until his retirement. Stuart was a member of the Serena Lions Club, The Ottawa Moose Lodge, and the Harding United Methodist Church. For many years, he enjoyed going to his Uncle Harland’s on Sundays with his friends to skeet shoot.

Stuart was a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed traveling with Ila to Mexico, Florida, Arizona, Hawaii, Alaska, and any place in the United States. He loved attending his sons, grandsons, and his great-grandchildren’s sporting events. Stuart loved his family, his home, and his life on the farm.

Stuart is survived by his two sons, Brad (Monica) Warren and Mike (Lisa Killelea) Warren, all of Ottawa; grandsons, Clinton (Tamie) Warren of Andover, MN, Dennis (Jessica) Warren of Ottawa, and Korey (Donna Chu) Kromm of Los Angeles, CA. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren; Jackson, Jordyn, Lucy, and Lincoln Warren; sister Arden Dewey of Leland and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Ila of 66 years, his parents, brother Miles, and two brothers in infancy.

Pallbearers will be Clinton & Dennis Warren, Eugene Gualandri, Larry Mustered, Craig Larson & Randy Rosengren.

Memorials may be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
