Updated information from the Lasalle Police Department on Thursday’s shooting.

On a Thursday afternoon, at approximately 1:45, the La Salle police swiftly responded to a 9-1-1 emergency call reporting a shooting incident in the vicinity of Third and Lafayette streets. The incident unfolded in the western alleyway of the 200 block of Lafayette, near the popular Fajitas Mexican Restaurant. Additionally, another related crime scene was discovered in the 300 block of Fourth Street in La Salle.

In a coordinated effort, law enforcement personnel from Peru, Oglesby, and Spring Valley rushed to assist the La Salle officers. Together, they meticulously examined the crime scenes, conducted interviews with both witnesses and suspects and reviewed video surveillance footage. After a thorough investigation, the officers determined that two individuals had engaged in a physical altercation on Lafayette Street. During the course of the altercation, one of the individuals obtained a firearm provided by a third party. Regrettably, the individual with the firearm discharged a round, striking the other individual in the right arm. Following the shooting, all parties involved fled the scene.

Prompt medical attention was provided to the injured individual at the address on Fourth Street, thanks to the efforts of paramedics. As the police reports are finalized, the La Salle County State’s Attorney’s office will evaluate the case for potential charges related to the incident.
