On Friday, October 13, 2023, Trident Agents with the assistance of the LaSalle County Sheriff’s Department, LaSalle Police Department, Ottawa Police Department, and US Postal Inspectors Office arrested Luis Y. Quinones-Pereira, age 26 of 1015 8th Street LaSalle, IL. Quinones-Pereira is charged with Controlled Substance Trafficking, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver, and 2 counts of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.
The arrest comes after Trident Agents were made aware of a suspicious package being shipped from Puerto Rico to LaSalle, IL, it was determined the package contained approximately one kilogram or 2.2 pounds of purported cocaine. During the investigation, it was learned that Quinones-Pereira was the person who intended to receive the package. Agents conducted a controlled delivery of the package and as a result Quinones-Pereira was arrested. Additional residences connected to Quinones-Pereira were then searched and a pistol with extended magazines, an AR-15 style pistol along with items used on the packaging and delivery of narcotics.
Quinones-Pereira was transported to the LaSalle County Jail to await a detention hearing.
All subjects are innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.
