William Charles Krause, 82 of Ottawa, passed away on Sunday evening, October 1, surrounded by family.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa, with Rev. Duane Kaufman, officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday, at the funeral home.
William was born on September 21, 1941, in Peru, to Bill and Grace (Schweickert) Krause. He was a graduate of Notre Dame, where he received his B.S. in Civil Engineering. Bill worked as a Civil Engineer for 36 years. He was the City Engineer of Ottawa for most of his career. He married Sherry Rae Bell on April 24, 1965, at Notre Dame, in South Bend, Indiana. He was a member of St. Columba Church, Ottawa Elks, Ottawa Moose, Knights of Columbus, Illinois Association of Highway Engineers, and Engineers Rod and Gun Club.
Bill’s greatest joy in life was cheering on the Bears and Cubs win or lose. He enjoyed hanging with his buddies whether golfing, fishing, or playing poker. Bill traveled the world with both family and friends. Nobody will ever wrap Christmas gifts like him or make a better cheese bunny. His children and grandchildren hope heaven is filled with Notre Dame fans, cold beer, and a never-ending garden.
Bill is survived by his wife Sherry; three children, Daniel (Stacy) Krause of Ottawa, Kelly (Dave) Brovelli of Oglesby, and Laura (Ryan) Marenda of Oglesby; and seven grandchildren, Carter (Alexa) Krause, Brittany Krause (Ryan Wendt), Tyler Brovelli (Ally Counts), Riley Brovelli, Avery Brovelli, Maya Marenda, and Max Marenda; and a brother Bruce (Sharon) Krause.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials may be directed to the American Red Cross.
