Governor Pritzker is defending the state’s response to the migrant crisis in Chicago. The governor said the state has spent 328 million dollars to help manage the crisis. His comments come after some Chicago aldermen have accused the state of not helping out enough. Pritzker called on the federal government to provide additional resources. He also expressed concerns about the city’s plan to build base camps for the migrants, saying they are trying to identify existing facilities that are already built to house migrants.

The Illinois State Fire Marshal’s office and the Illinois Department of Labor are inspecting haunted houses across the state to ensure they are safe. Haunted houses in Illinois are required to be inspected before operation, though haunted houses operated by not-for-profit religious, educational, or charitable organizations can apply for an exemption from the IDOL. However, these haunted houses must still be inspected by local authorities or the State Fire Marshal’s office.

The suspension at EIU comes in the light of a recent hazing case at Boston College involving the swim and dive team.

Workers want a 20 dollars per hour minimum, expanded health care coverage, and a pension. It is similar to what concession workers get at Guaranteed Rate Field and the United Center. Compass Levy officials say they plan to continue food and beverage service if a strike happens.
