Vickie J. Finan, 68, of Marseilles, passed away Tuesday September 5th following a courageous 14-year battle with lymphoma. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday September 9 at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Pamela Haug officiating.

Vickie was born September 6, 1954, to Victor and Margaret (Hinrichs) Kassing in Alton, IL. She had an extraordinary childhood, and often spoke of her adventures with her horses along the bluff of the Mississippi river. Her stories were infectious. She graduated from Ottawa High School in 1972 and married the love of her life George Finan Jr. that summer.

She will be remembered as an innovative entrepreneur, business mentor, dreamer, devoted mother, grandmother, and friend. Vickie could be found in her later years in the stands cheering on her grandchildren, she was their biggest fan. In addition, she gave countless hours volunteering her time to the Veteran’s Home, American Legion Post & Gold Star Mothers – she was a true Patriot.

She is survived by two daughters and one son, Jamie (Michael Coutts) Finan of Ottawa, Jeffrey (Doreene) Finan of Minooka and Julianna (Bradley) Swanson of Marseilles; her very best friend, Lee Budde of Marseilles; and nine grandchildren, Michael, Colin, Francesco, Nicholas, Connor, Remington, Luke, Abe, and Jake.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor & Margaret Kassing, and her husband, George J. Finan Jr.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family in her honor.

The souls of some shine so bright, that even their shadows bathe us in light.
