On July 26 at approximately 10:49 p.m., Ottawa Central Dispatch received a 911 call regarding a male subject with a gunshot wound in the 2100 block of Somerset Dr. in Ottawa. Officers with the Ottawa Police Dept. along with Ottawa Fire Dept. Medics responded to the scene and located a single male juvenile with a gunshot wound. Life-saving measures were performed on the minor; however, he was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Ottawa Police continue to investigate the incident. The shooting appears to be an isolated incident with no perceived threat to the public. Foul play is not suspected at this time.
The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notifications by the LaSalle County Coroner’s Office.
