A Rutland man is going to prison for up to 50 years after he was found guilty of unlawful use of a weapon and meth charges last month. A Woodford County Judge sentenced 43-year old David Allen Mays after a bench trial. Mays was arrested by LaSalle County Sheriff’s in December. During a search of Mays’ Rutland home, LaSalle County Sheriff Adam Diss says an AKS rifle, AR-15, rifle, bullets, and body armor were found. Mays was on parole from the Illinois Department of Corrections after he pleaded guilty in 2002 to shooting a man in the back of the head, which is why he was given such a long sentence. He still has had charges pending in LaSalle County.
