A funeral home director in Mendota is facing child porn charges. Mendota Police arrested 54-year old Brett W. Merritt Tuesday and charged him with possession of child pornography. His arrest happened after police searched his home and at the Merritt Funeral Home on Monroe St. Police Chief Greg Kellen says police have been investigating for the last six months into multiple various crimes. Merrit is being held in the LaSalle County Jail with his first appearance to be in court Wednesday. Mendota Police got help from the Illinois Attorney Generals Forensic computer crimes unit, LaSalle County Sheriff’s Department, and the LaSalle County State’s Attorney’s Office.
