Carus Chemical says they’ve donated a new air monitor to the city of LaSalle. A press release from the company says LaSalle Alderman Joe Jeppson picked up the equipment yesterday. The issue of air quality was a concern for residents after the January 11th fire at the company’s storage warehouse. They talked about it at the chemical company’s first town hall in May. VP of Innovation and Technology Richard Landtiser says the company heard resident’s concerns and wants to offer them further reassurance that emissions aren’t polluting the environment or the air around their homes by donating the air monitor. Air Emissions Reports and Toxic Chemical Release Reports are filed with the Illinois and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency yearly. The company says particulate matter emissions are less than 50% of the allowable limit. You can find links to EPA reports by clicking here and here.
