Habitat for Humanity of LaSalle, Bureau and Putnam Counties is building their newest Habitat house in the 400 block of 7th St. in Peru.

The house is being built for Cord and Kelsie Bernier and their three children.

Board president Tom Pigati is overseeing the construction.

The plans for the house include three bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room, a utility room, and a bathroom.

Volunteers on this project include individuals from Maze Nails, Wal-Mart and local churches. The Berniers and other family members are also helping construct the home.

The next Habitat for Humanity build will be in Princeton, according to Executive Director Todd Volker. Applications for that build are now open and can be found at localhabitat.org.
