A LaSalle man and Ottawa woman are accused of trying to rob an AMT machine at the First Federal Savings Bank in LaSalle. 41-year old Richard Young and 28-year old Marisa Melendez were arrested after police were called Wednesday morning to the bank for an alarm going off. Assistant State’s Attorney Matt Kidder says police allegedly found the ATM machine damaged with a hammer and pry bars nearby. Young and Melendez allegedly started to run away before they were both captured. Young allegedly later told police that he was desperate for money. Judge H. Chris Ryan set bond for Young at $100,000 and Melendez got a $5,000 bond. Both will be back in court next month.
