More mosquitoes have tested positive for West Nile virus in LaSalle County. The LaSalle County Health Department says the batch tested this time was from the LaSalle area. The bugs get the virus when they bite a bird and later bite humans. The health department reminds residents to practice the three R’s which are reduce, repel, and report. Make sure windows and doors have a tight-fitting screen, wear bug spray with DEET in it outside, and report stagnant water on roadside ditches and other flooded areas that have been around for more than a week. Symptoms of the disease include nausea, fever, headache, and muscle aches.
