Tomorrow is the last day for Illinois Valley Community College Pres. Jerry Corcoran. He’s retiring after working 33 years at IVCC and fifteen as its president. He told WCMY’s Jay LeSeure Tuesday that he started working for the college in 1990 and worked multiple jobs. He says he was at the right place at the right time when he was asked to become president of the college. During his time as president, the college has expanded by building a truck driving training center, The Peter Miller Technology Center, and the IVCC Ottawa campus. He says it the campus was a great investment.

Tracy Morris is taking over as president. She says there’s a reason why she hasn’t moved on to a four-year university in her career. It’s because of what a community college can do for students.

She praised Corcoran saying he has served the college well and has left it in great shape for her.

She’s an IVCC grad and worked at Joliet Junior College before being picked at the next president. You can hear Jay LeSeure’s full interview with Corcoran and Morris here:
