The number of people out of work went down again in LaSalle and Bureau Counties between April and May. The Illinois Department of Employment Security says LaSalle County’s unemployment rate fell from 5.2% in April to 4.9% in May. Bureau County’s dropped from 4.6% to 4.4%. Putnam County’s unemployment rate stayed the same at 4.7%. The unemployment rate for all three counties fell from 5.0% to 4.8% from April to May. Non-farm payroll jobs didn’t change however professional business services, education health services, and trade and transportation utilities lost employees. Leisure and hospitality, government, and other services gained employees. Grundy County has the lowest unemployment rate in the area. It fell from 3.5% in April to 3.2% in May.
