St. Sen Sue Rezin spoke to military families who’ve lost loved ones at the Illinois Motorcycle Freedom Run in Marseilles to celebrate legislation passed through the Illinois General Assembly that recognizes the Honor and Remember flag. The Morris Republican says throughout her encounters with Gold Star Families, she heard a common theme. It’s the “want of assurance that their love one’s sacrifice was not in vain and that the people of our nation will never forget what they gave up in defense of our freedom.” She filled a bill that would make the flag the official state symbol of concern for honoring and remembering the lives of all members of the US Military that died for their country. The freedom run starts at the Grundy County Fairgrounds and goes to Marseilles where it ends at the Middle East Conflict Memorial Wall. She also spoke during the annual ceremony to add names to the wall, but there were none added for the first time since the freedom run started.
