The LaSalle County Health Department is offering free rapid HIV finger stick tests on National HIV Testing Day, Tuesday, June 27. Testing will be available from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on the event day, and appointments are recommended.
About 40% of people with HIV are not diagnosed until they develop AIDS, according to the Centers for Disease Control.
The CDC recommends patients between the ages of 13 and 64 to test for HIV once a year. Those at a higher risk for the disease should test more often.
