Burn bans in effect in LaSalle County

By WCMY News Jun 21, 2023 | 4:19 PM

Several fire protection districts have announced burn bans because of the dry weather. They include the village of Naplate, Marseilles, and the Peru-Dimmick District until further notice. Some firefighters say that you can still use outdoor fire places or grills, but open burning without some type of way to contain the fire isn’t allowed. Fire Chief Jeff King reminds residents that open burning isn’t allowed in the city anyway. Naplate Fire Chief John Nevis says make sure that any fire you are allowed to burn is put out completely. Some fire departments aren’t lifting the ban until at least an inch of rain has fallen.
