Some Streator businesses in the 200 block of E. Hickory St. were evacuated Saturday morning after a suspicious bag was found locked to a parking sign on the side of a building. Police Chief John Franklin says the Kane County Bomb Squad was called because it wasn’t know why the bag was locked to the building or what was in it. The bomb squad later said the package didn’t have any explosives in and the evacuation order was lifted. Streator Police didn’t say what happened to the tote afterward. The department also got help from the Streator Fire Department.
