Applications for the 2023 Labor of Love are now available. It’s the yearly event done by the United Way of Eastern LaSalle County that has volunteers make home repairs for those less fortunate or have are military families of deployed personnel. Shelli Ocepek with the United Way says make sure to get applications turned in as soon as possible even though they are due by Tuesday, August 1st. There is one thing that applicants have to do differently this year. She’s asking for applicatns to call and make an appointment because the chapter is going through a transition.

Families who apply must own and live in their home and don’t plan on leaving for a period of three to five years. Ocepek says volunteers are needed again for the event. Anyone who wants to apply or help can call the United Way at 815-434-4003. Labor of Love is Saturday, October 7th. Volunteers could be working on homes Dayton, Grand Ridge, Harding, Leland, Marseills, Naplate, Norway, Ottawa, Seneca, Serena, Sheridan, and Wedron.
