LaSalle looking to end Carus Chemical truck route on Porter Ave.

The city of LaSalle wants to end a truck route that Carus Chemical used on Porter Ave. Alderman Bob Thompson asked for the change because Carus told residents that the Apollo Warehouse, which stored chemicals for the company, was cleaned out. He says right now there’s no need for the street to have semi’s going up and down it anymore. The city council approved sending it to the LaSalle Streets, Alleys, and Traffic committee where they will vote on it first. If it’s approved two weeks from now, it will go to the full council for a vote. Thompson says Porter Ave. was made a truck route back in 2010.
