There’s a lot more room for the LaSalle County Coroner’s Office at the new LaSalle County Forensic Center. Coroner Rich Ploch says his office now has a better place to document prescriptions and package evidence. He also says there can be more private discussion with family members of people who died. He also says staff now have a safer place to work with decedents’ belongings like medication.
He says there aren’t any plans yet for a morgue but there could be room to create a cool area to store bodies instead of sending them to Bloomington.
The LaSalle County Board purchased an old medical building on W. Walnut St. for $250,000 and then later remodeled it. Ploch said earlier this year that there wasn’t enough office space at the Etna Rd. Courthouse in Ottawa to do his work.
