Ottawa Police getting evidence room expansion

The Ottawa Police Department is expanding its evidence room. The Ottawa City Council approved a proposal from Liebhart Construction for about $20,000 for the expansion. Police Chief Brent Roalson says a wall will be put up in an area of the building that has extra holding cells to keep the room secure. He says it’s only room in the building that can be modified.

Roalson says any evidence that’s not from a drug-related case will be stored in the new section. He says it’s the third time the police department has expanded the evidence room because the department keeps outgrowing it.
