A Streator man is now accused of shooting and killing a 35-year old woman last month. 29-year old Malcolm Whitfield was first charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm after he was arrested in Memphis, TN. A LaSalle County grand jury approved the murder charge Tuesday. He’s also accused of aggravated battery. He’ll be back in court Thursday to appear with his lawyer. His alleged accomplice 36-year old Rachel Carter got charges of aiding a fugitive approved by the grand jury as well. She’s also been accused of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon.
