Computer systems in Oglesby need upgrades. But the city council tabled an agreement last night with Connecting Point Computers for upgrades and annual maintenance. Mayor Jason Curran says with the upgrades, the city would be able to protect its computer systems from cyber-attacks using Endpoint Detection and Response or EDR.
The council tabled the agreement after comments from Commissioner Tony Stefanelli. He says the upgrades don’t include upgrading the system to have an Oglesby email address. The city has used Gmail accounts since the beginning when email was created. He says he doesn’t want to wait on this issue again.
Curran says he agrees, and it will get done.
