A jury of six men and six women was picked in the case against 31-year old Angel Farmer. Before the jury was selected, Prosecutor Kelley Porter asked that videos the defense wants to show should be played on a DVD rather than directly from YouTube. Farmer’s Attorney Wayne Slaughter said the videos should be allowed to be shown through the video platform because there won’t be a problem. Judge H. Chris Ryan says he would prefer the disc, but evidence from YouTube can be submitted. He also decided not to allow several videos that the defense wanted to play. One allegedly involved Farmer talking with a LaSalle County Sheriff’s Deputy. Ryan says he’ll reconsider but the defense already gets to call witnesses. Farmer is accused of battering a courthouse security guard at the Etna Rd. Courthouse in Ottawa in 2021.
