State Rep. Jed Davis is hosting a fishing derby in Yorkville on June 17th. The derby will be from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Loon Lake in Silver Springs Park in Yorkville.
“As someone who spent many summer afternoons fishing with his grandfather, I look forward to the memories families will make at this event on Father’s Day weekend,” Davis said.
The first 75 children in attendance will receive a free fishing rod and reel. T.E.A.C.H Illinois and the Illinois Conservation Police will also be onsite to discuss ways to stay safe while fishing and help participants bait their hooks.
Fishing licenses are not required to participate.
