Abygroups is paying $300,000 for land in Peru to build a Popeye’s Fried Chicken restaurant. The city council approved the agreement earlier this week. City Attorney Scott Schweickert says almost four acres of land on May Rd. is needed because they need room for a drive through and all the traffic coming off Interstate 80. He says construction could start this summer and the restaurant could be open by this fall. Mayor Ken Kolowski calls it a positive thing saying that he hopes more franchises will follow now that the Popeye’s will open.
