A barn is considered a total loss after it caught fire Saturday afternoon north of Marseilles. Fire Chief Dave Parrot says the barn in the 2300 block of E. 24th Rd. was already gone by the time the fire department arrived . They sprayed water on another barn that started to catch fire. It received minor damage. A cattle barn was saved although cows were spooked by the sirens from the fire department arriving. There were no injuries to firefighters or to the homeowners who were trying to put the fire out on a cattle barn. The cause could have been from an electrical outlet or from some embers that might have started up. The Marseilles Fire Department also got help from Serena, Wallace, Grand Ridge, Utica, Newark, Morris, and Seneca Fire Departments.
