Cong. Lauren Underwood was one of three people to reintroduce the Momnibus Act last week. She says urgent action is needed to end the maternal health crisis in the United States.
The Centers for Disease Control say the maternal death rate in 2021 was 34.7%. Underwood says the Momnibus would promote maternal vaccinations, fund community-based organizations working to improve maternal health, and grow and diversify the perinatal workforce among other things. She made her comments last Sunday on CBS’s Face the Nation.
