The city of LaSalle is spending $1.7 million to modify the inside of the city’s new public works building. City Finance Director John Duncan says concrete has to be placed and reinforced inside the new building. He says most of the twenty people working in the public works department will move to the new building.

He says Vissering Construction will work on the concrete work and Tieman Builders will build a new office space, locker room, and bathrooms. When the inside is done, there will be a new place to park the trucks and new offices for the public works staff. The plan is to move almost everyone in by spring next year. Workers treating the city’s water will stay downtown. Duncan says the city wanted to move out of their current building because it’s starting to deteriorate. He says the city decided not to reinvest because of it’s location downtown.
