The LaSalle County Health Department is collecting dead crows, blue jays, and robins again to check for West Nile virus in LaSalle County. The health department says the virus has been documented throughout the county for the last twenty years. If you find a dead crow, blue jay, or robin that has no signs of an obvious death like a missing body part or other wounds, you can call the health department at 815-433-3366. The bird’s carcass must also be in good condition. That means they can’t be dead for more than two days and haven’t started decomposing. Birds are being collected until October 15th.
