The 8th annual TBM Avengers Reunion is this Friday and Saturday in Peru at the Illinois Valley Regional Airport. Chairman Cary Miller says he knows there will be some vintage World War II-era airplanes coming in again this year, but won’t know exactly how many until the day of the event. There will also be plenty of TBM Avengers returing to the event. There is one new event at this year’s reunion. Miller says there will be a demonstration on Friday that shows how air raids were done by planes flown in World War II.
The chairman says he understands veterans suffer from PTSD, but he wants to get the word out to make sure everyone knows. He also says this isn’t the only show this is done at. It’s been seen at other air shows including one of the biggest, the EAA AirVenture Show in Oshkosh, WI. Saturday is the Salute to Veterans. Miller says it starts with the Honor Walk where people can bring their flags of fallen family members to be honored.
He says right now there are 100 volunteers, but they can always use more for the two-day event. Anyone interested can go to the volunteers booth and ask to help.
