The Nuclear Regulatory Commission is having an open house to talk about the safety performance of the LaSalle Nuclear Power Plant. It will be Tuesday from five to six at the Marseilles Public Library. Public Service Officer Prema Chandrathil says the senior resident officer and the branch chief of the power plant will be there to answer questions about the safety and performance of the plant.
She says the officers are the eyes and ears of the plant.
The NRC says in 2022 the power plant was operating safely. All inspection findings and performance indicators were green or of very low safety significance.
