The Marseilles Public Library is getting a grant for gutter repairs. In a letter to Library Director Jan Ambrose, Secretary of State and State Librarian Alexi Giannoulias announced $125,000 will be given to the library. Because of the extreme heat, water leaked into the library walls because the gutters cracked. Mayor Jim Hollenbeck said in January that the city wants to keep the library looking as original as possible and would rather pay for fixing the gutters rather adding modern ones. The project could cost up to $260,000. The city will have to come up with the rest of the money.
