Peru Mayor Ken Kolowski says although it’s great to know that OSF Healthcare wants to reopen St. Margaret’s Health Peru, we need to pump the breaks. He says right now OSF has just given a letter of intent and things can change very quickly. He says there’s a long road ahead, but what’s happening is a step in the right direction.
He says the important thing is the health of the city’s residents. But, there is the chance of economic impact.
OSF says when they eventually reopen the hospital emergency services and other select services will be available. They didn’t mention any specific about a maternity ward which has been a focus after SMP closed in January. Right now OSF says they are looking for regulatory approvals.
