935/1430 WCMY in Ottawa is looking for a News Reporter to join our on-air team delivering quality local news to Ottawa and the surrounding region. The News Reporter will be expected to collect, write and produce news content for delivery on-air and over digital, social media, and video channels. 935/1430 WCMY broadcasts a mix of live and pre-recorded newscasts Monday through Saturday focused on providing local news and information.
Expectations:
Full or part-time employment is an available option for this position.
The successful candidate must be proficient in writing stories for radio broadcasting and audio & visual delivery on our website and social media platforms. The News Reporter will be visible in the Ottawa and LaSalle County communities attending city council, county, and school board meetings and other community-focused events to create relationships with community leaders.

Knowledge of Microsoft 365, NexGen, Adobe Audition, SoCast, social media, and video editing software is a big plus! A Bachelor’s degree in journalism and at least one year of experience as a news reporter is required.
