More changes could be coming to city of LaSalle’s noise ordinance

The city of LaSalle wants to make more clarifications to its noise ordinance. One change would require the liquor license holder for a bar to ask for a special event permit and not just the owner of the bar. City Attorney Jim McPhedran says it should also make it clearer that the cutoff time for loud music or something that makes a loud noise is 10pm. He says it might seem like the ordinance seems to focus on bars, but that’s not alway the case.

Another change could make it so that only eight special event permits would be allowed each year for a business that wants to have outdoor events. The city council didn’t take any action on making changes to the ordinance but they did issue a special event permit for the bar Nicks on Six for some bands to play.
