A hiker was seriously hurt after he fell at Starved Rock State Park. Utica Fire Chief Ben Brown says the hiker fell in Hennepin Canyon. It’s not known how far down he fell or how long he’d been at the bottom of the canyon Sunday morning. The man was lifted up from the canyon by a rope and taken by Ottawa River Rescue to Lone Point Shelter. He was later taken by helicopter in serious condition to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove. Utica firefighters also got help from Wallace, Naplate, and Oglesby fire departments as well as Illinois Conservation Police and the LaSalle County Sheriff’s Department.
