Unemployment went down for March in LaSalle, Bureau, and Putnam Counties. LaSalle County saw the biggest drop from 6.6% in February to 5.9% in March Bureau went from 6.0% in February to 5.4%. Putnam went from 6.2% to 5.4%. The three-county area went from 6.5% to 5.8%. Non-farm payroll jobs were unchanged but the Illinois Department of Employment Security says the biggest drop in unemployment was in Education and the Health Services sector. The biggest growth was in leisure and hospitality. Grundy County’s unemployment rate also went down from 5.3% to 5.0%.
