Fires in Oglesby and Cedar Point kept fire departments in that area very busy overnight. The Oglesby fire was at the Cindy’s on 39 restaurant on Lewis Ave. Fire Chief Ron Popurella says flames were through the roof already when the fire fighters arrived just after midnight. The roof eventually fell in and the restaurant is a total loss. Oglesby had help from the LaSalle, Peru, Spring Valley, Tonica, and Utica fire departments.
Not long after the Oglesby fire started, Cedar Point fire fighters needed help with a porch fire that spread into a home. Fire Chief Allen Haeffner says there’s major damage to the house. The many fire departments working in Oglesby were so involved there, they couldn’t leave to help in Cedar Point. So the Cedar Point fire fighters called for help elsewhere.
