High school students who have family with a military or law enforcement background can apply for a scholarship through the LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Adam Diss says the Peacekeepers Scholarship is due on Monday, May 15th. Applicants must have parents either on active duty, in the Military Reserves, in the National Guard, or have been killed-in-action. Families with a police background must have a person on active duty, retired, or killed-in-action. The scholarship must be used for college during the 2023-2024 school year. Students must complete the application and complete an essay question about how they would argue for or against the Illinois SAFE-T Act. You can find the scholarship on the Illinois Sheriff’s Association website.
