Surf Internet is starting its Oglesby project. It had a groundbreaking last week outside Oglesby City Hall. The company is running fiber-optic internet lines in the city. It expects to serve the nearly 2,000 homes in the city by this fall.
Even though the company’s event was called a groundbreaking, it will run most of the fiber-optic cable above ground. It’ll go from pole to pole, because it’s quicker to get permission to do that than running underground. The city owns most of the poles Surf will use.
