Starved Rock State Park Natural Resources Coordinator reminds people how to be safe at park

By WCMY News Apr 15, 2023 | 4:41 AM

Now that spring has started, more people have been showing up at Starved Rock State Park. Natural Resources Coordinator Lisa Sons is reminding people what to do to be safe at the park. One of the most important things is to stay on the trails.

She also says bring enough water for family and pets. She doesn’t recommend letting your pets drink from the streams in the park because it has runoff from the farm fields when it rains. If you want to make sure you can into the park in the first place, Sons says it’s a good idea to look online before you leave. One place to look is the Starved Rock State Park Facebook page. She reminds people that when the parking lots are full, people won’t be allowed to get in.
