Updated Wednesday morning, April 13, 2023:
The duplex fire in Ottawa early yesterday morning was in a utility room. Deputy Fire Chief Mike Mills says it stayed in one side of the duplex. The fire fighters had it out quickly. Fire investigators still don’t know what caused it. Everyone got out of the building unhurt and no fire fighters were hurt either.

Fire investigators are at work in the 600 block of 3rd Ave. in Ottawa. A fire started in a closet inside a two-story duplex at about 5:30 this morning. The Ottawa Fire Department says everyone who lives in the building got out okay. Fire fighters had the fire out quickly.
