An investing magazine recently profiled and critiqued an all women investing club based in Ottawa. Monday Morning Money Makers president Caroline Campaigne says there are 13 members. The group’s been around about four decades, so not all the members are the charter members.
Better Investing magazine said the group’s portfolio is tech-heavy, and Campaigne says it’s a fair evaluation. The members have monthly meetings at which they can present their own evaluations and the club votes on whether to buy, hold, or sell. The magazine’s recommendation to diversify is likely to come up.
The group came together in the 1980’s because some women were wishing they knew more about finances after their husbands died. The wives weren’t much involved and were at a disadvantage when they had to take over.
