St. Sen. Tom Bennett says Illinois is one of the top ten states when it comes to tax burdens. He wants the legislature to pass tax relief. He’s speaking in favor of a bill to make the grocery sales tax relief permanent and to expand the state’s child tax credit.
Bennett says Illinoisans lose, on average, 9.3% of their incomes to taxation. He thinks it’s getting out of hand. Bennett spoke through the Illinois Senate Republicans’ press office.
The legislature’s spring session is about half over.
