St. Rep. Jason Bunting says one of the most important bills in the legislature is one that would help human trafficking victims. Some have criminal records because they were forced into prostitution and were arrested for it.
There’s a House Bill 1101 which includes a procedure in which a human trafficking victim can ask for criminal records to be sealed. It’s in the House Rules Committee. Bunting hasn’t added his name as a sponsor.
The same bill would repeal state laws prohibiting cannabis possession and free prison inmates who are serving time only for that crime.
