Voters in the Reading Fire Protection District voted yes yesterday to a tax referendum for property taxes for ambulance service. The district needed the referendum to pay the city of Streator for their new ambulance service. Streator expected the district to pay $115,000 a year, but they could only afford paying $25,000 to the city. The district was served by AMT before they moved away because it was costing too much to run.
