Most of the issues that were stalemated at the Oglesby City Council meeting two weeks ago were resolved last night. The council approved ordinances about fences and inspecting electrical generators. It approved a street lane striping bid.

A bucket truck that Commissioner Jason Curran found a buyer for will be put up for bid after Commissioner Tom Argubright’s questions about the process.

The council also didn’t start a test program to pay for sewer backup prevention valves in people’s homes. Argubright feels it helps just two people and the valves don’t cost that much, so the city shouldn’t do it. Curran says it could potentially help more people if the valves don’t cost as much as expected or if the city expands the program.

And the dog park at the heart of the tension two weeks ago wasn’t on the agenda. Commissioner James Cullinan apologized to the Park Board, he says for being baited by two other council members and giving it a contentious issue right before an election. The Park Board last week declined to recommend a dog park location after its members said they felt like they were being put on the spot.
